Small Ones are Still More Juicy

Twitter has taken over from my blogging – why write a long blog post when you have already summarised what you want to say in 140 characters? In the effort to blog more, I’m still going to write this, because I can say more than that about it for sure.

Men.
Yep. I can sure write more thean 140 characters about men. Specifically though, men and grooming…or men and their understanding of women’s grooming. You thought this was going to be one of my bitter rants, didn’t you? But no, merely and observation and perhaps a little bit of education for the men amongst you.
Now this is just me…. please bear in mind that this does not apply to all women…

The crux of my problem is my hair. I have a lot of it. It likes to be washed prefereably every day but this just isn’t happening, so with the help of dry shampoo (actually Batiste and is the best) and clever up-dos, I can do three…well two and wash on the third. It takes a long time to wash, brush, dry, style etc.

Here is where the planning comes in.

I also like to go to the gym. I, unlike a lot of the girls I see there, sweat when I work out…therefore, there is absolutely no point washing my hair on the morning of a day when I am going to go to the gym and run up a sweat storm, that would just be wasting my time.

I like to have my hair freshly washed on a day that I am seeing the man shape or have evening plans… to look nice and pretty.

So, this week was going something like:
Monday – wash hair in the morning (seeing boy)
Tuesday – gym tonight, let’s use some dry shampoo and clips
Wednesday – gym again, let’s use some dry shampoo and tie it up in a top knot
Then I probably wash it that night because a relaxing bath would be nice.
Thursday – washed hair last night, should be grand (seeing boy)
Friday – wash hair in the morning (out tonight) or if  not a major night out, dry shampoo and clip.

BUT. Then the boy can’t make Thursday and wants to switch to Wednesday instead. It’s Wednesday today. Shit, my hair is three days dirty and there’s no way I can leave it. I really have to wash it before I see him. Cue mad dash home to jump in the shower and wash my hair and act like nothing has really happened at all before he comes round.

You see, as much as I would like to wake up in the morning looking freshly washed and spritzed and made up…I don’t. It takes about 45 mintues to make this presentable. One little thing can send my carefully thought out plan all tits up.

But then I do like to plan things in detail.

5 of the best

Sorry this post is mostly for the ladies, but I’ve tried a few good products recently and thought I would share with you. (I am not getting paid or any such thing for this, just sharing!)

Moroccan Oil Restorative Hair Mask £30 -  I’ve heard so much Moroccan Oil and was sceptical, especially considering the price. I went for the intensive conditioner as I wasn’t sure how my hair would deal with the pure oil because my roots get oily. First off, it smells divine – if a little masculine. Secondly, it leaves your hair mega shiny. My hair also felt as if it had all expanded and was much thicker, perhaps it gets coated in something but got knotty very easily after using. Anyhow, if you have long, coloured or damaged hair, I do recommed it. However, considering the price, I think I’d rather go for Redken All Soft Heavy Cream £16.95 which is just as good and much cheaper.

Superdrug Créme Sensaions, semi-permanent hair colour (I used Black Cherry) £3.49 – Major flag here, I don’t think the names match the colours, my hair is nothing like a cherry (I’m glad, wasn’t the look I was going for). Check the colour guide on the back of the box, seems pretty accurate TIP: Don’t go by the picture on the front of the box, check the back!. Good for a semi and VERY good value for money. Don’t seem to get much colour in each so get an extra box. I have long hair and a lot of it so needed all three. Not tested on animals, smells quite nice and gives really good coverage. Just be careful if you have already coloured hair. At the moment, my roots are brighter (was natural hair) and the ends are a slightly different colour where I already had dye on them.
I also recommend their range of permanent colours but they fade a little quicker than the Schwartzkopf equivalent.

Body Shop Vitamin E Nourishing Night Creme £10 – I LOVE this. It’s perfect for helping out your dry, winter skin. It smells lovely and not too strong. Feels nice and think but not too greasy. It’s quite pricey but I don’t think you need to use it every single night and you don’t need too much of it so it lasts quite long.

Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner £13 – Totally worth the money. I had tried pots, gels, pencils, pens…everything and this is the best I have found. Amazing black pigment unlike some which come out a little wishy washy. Have an issue with cracking and flaking with some gels and pens (Maybelline and Stilla gels) but this one is pretty good. Will stay put all day, honestly. If I’ve done flicks, these might have rubbed off a little but that might just be me touching my eyes too much. Quite easy to use with a bit of practice as it’s like a felt tip pen, you do need quite a steady hand though as it comes out quickly and quite liquidy. All in all, thoroughly recommend.

Nars The Multiple £29 - Totall worth the money. I have this in Maui which looks great on my cheeks but might be a little dark if you have fairer skin or if I don’t have a bit of a tan. I’ve also tried Copacabana which is more irridescent and a great highlighter which looks lovely in photos. Nice and blendable, creamy and long wearing. The one I have looks dark but just build the colour up slowly rather than wacking a great load on and once it’s blended, it looks naturally flushed.

One for the lads so as not to leave you out…

Paul Smith Extreme £25.99 - I’m pretty sure it’s this one, I know it’s Paul Smith anyhow, one that smells woody and slightly minty. This aftershave drives me utterly insane. In a very good way. A male friend of mine insists on wearing it and I can confidently say that it makes him 50% more attractive to me.
